IMPERIAL POLITICS.
UNIONISTS AND THE FOOD TAX. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, April 24 . The Marquis of Salisbury, in a letter to The Times, states that the Conservatives' attempts to force a food tax upon a reluctant nation when a constitutional revolution is threatened is treachery to the country and inconsistent, and they cannot win without the moderate men who voted against them in January. The Spectator, commenting on Mr. Winston Churchill's speech m the closure debate, stated that the closure in regard to Sir Robert Anderson's pension was .used not because the House consideicd the subject sufficiently debated, but because the Irish were determined to deprive members of free speech who said things they disliked. The Nationalists' domination is complete.
