Eeniin. the culprit in connection with the theft of State jewels from Uspenski Cathedral, was discovered inside th<> Cathedral, despite the fact that the Cathedral had been thoroughly searched previously. After searching for thirtysix hours the jewels were discovered hidden in a tomb.
[The Us'iensUi Cathedral is the most venerated of the sacred buildings of the Kremlin, Moscow. Tt was built in the fifteenth century and restored in the eighteenth and nineteenth. Tt contains the oldest and most venerated holy pictures in Russia, one of which is attributed to the metropolitan Peter, and another to St. Luke. It also contains the tombs of the Czars from Simeon (1353) to Ivan Alexevitch (1696), and possesses vast wealth.]
