ANXIETY RELIEVED.

GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright London, April 24. Some cotton turning up from America, representing.a portion of the shortage for Europe, has tended to relieve anxiety at Liverpool. <Mr. Sidney Buxton, speaking at the Liverpool Cotton Exchange, referring to the frauds in America, stated that if any representations can be made suggesting a means whereby the Board of Trade or other Government offices could intervene, the Government would go as far as it legitimately could to assist the Exchange.

THOSE SPURIOUS BILLS. Received April 26, 0.45 a.m. London, April 25. Nesbitt, of the firm of Knight and Yancey, declares that 300,000 bales of cotton were invoiced with spurious bills of lading and drawn on. Upon investigation his firm could find no actual cotton. He could-not attempt to say who 'was responsible.
