Stratford, Saturday

Mr. J. Masters, who on account of illhealth has been unable to address the electors, has published his views. His platform, brieiiy. is as follows:—Setting up a euiiiiiiiUeu Lo einjuire huo tile bcsl means uf improving the water supply; earmarking tile increased rental from borough reserves for the extension of drainage; the borough to take over the domains; to obtain a Supreme Court decision as to the rights of the Electric Light Company for lighting, to take an informal referendum by issuing papers to obtain Ihe electors' opinion as to whether the Council should take over the company, if the reply was favorable he advocated taking over the undertaking by arbitration; a loan was opposed, and he was against the asphalting of Broadway.

The wool-classing classes were started in Stratford to-day. thirteen pupils being present. It is hoped that by next week arrangements .will have been made to start a class at either Douglas or Toko. The Coif Club will open the season on Thursday with a . mixed foursome. The local club are trying to .arrange a match with the Ngamotu Club for 24th May.

Mr. D. E. Hntton, art master under the Taranaki Education Board, is commencing an art class on 7th May at the Stratford -Technical School. The A. and P. Association continues to steadily 'progress, and the membership is rapidly nearing the five hundred mark. At a committee meeting, to-day Mr. E. Jackson was appointed secretary. Several oilers of land for a ground were received, and a committee was set up to go into these and report at a future meeting. Trophies are already being promised, Mr. J. 13. Iliiie, M.P.,' having notified his intention of presenting a silver cup; the president, Air. R. Dingle, five guineas; and Messrs. Young, Hobbs and Co. four guineas.
