Dalgety and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable message from their I London house under date of the 18th j inst.: —''The list o* arrivals is closed and all your wools have arrived in time except those per "Karamea." The number of 'bales oi new arrivals amounts to 431,000, of which 270,000 bales have been forwarded direct to manufacturers at Home and abroad, leaving, with 9boo bale old .stocks, 170,000 bales available for sale." NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY REPORT. At the Haymarket on Saturday there was only a small penning of pigs, -with quiet demand, prices realised being in favor of purchasers. There were no stores penned. Weaners 3s to 4s lid, slips 5s to Gs (id. Horses £0 to £l2 12s Gd. At Urenui on Monday there was a fair yarding of cattle, with a good attendance of 'buyers, (practically everything being cleared at the hammer. Weaners (small) made 17s Gd to 21s Gd, 18-months steers £3 7s, 2'/ 3 -year steers £3 llis to £4 as, store cows £1 18s Gd to £3, forward <lo. £3 12s to £4 'is Gd, fat cows £5 to £5 4s, 3-year forward bullocks £5 4s; fat ewes and wethers (mixed) 13s s<l, f.m. ewes 7s 3d, lambs 7s Id, 2-tootli ewes 15s 3d, rams 1% guineas. At Stratford on Tuesday there was a good yarding. Bidding for all classes was brisk, and very little was passed at the hammer. Mixed weaners made £1 Is to £1 9s Gu, weaner heifers £1 7s Gd to £2, weaner steers 33s G;l, 1 S-niontli steers £3 4s Gd to £3 7s, 3 to 4-year bullocks (good condition) £5 to £5 10s (id. fnt bullocks £0 ISs (id. stove cows £2 7s to £3 3s, forward cows £3 7s to £4 2s Gd, fat cows £5 to £o 10s Gd, 18-months in-calf heifers £3 Is to .O 10s Gd, springing heifers £5 2s Gd, springing cows £5, bulls to £G. f.m. ewes 7s to 7s Id, lambs 7s 4d.
At Stony River on Wednesday there ■was a good yarding. The cattle were a nice lot and in good condition, and sokl readily at the following prices:—Mixed weaners 10s to 2os, weaner heifers 3Gs to £2 Gs Gd, 15-months heifers £2 lis Gd to £3 0s Gd, in-calf heifers £3 17s. 18-nion.ths steers £3 4s Gd to £3 7s, 2 to 2-year steers £4 4s to £4 10s, store cows £2 Gs Gd to £3 Is, forward cows £3 13s !)d to £4 Gs !)d, fat cows £4 15s to £5 12s, bulls £2 12s Gd to £4 ISs.
MATTHEWS & BENNETT'S REPORT. Matthews and Bennett report that there was a good yarding of cattle at tneir lnglewood yards on Wednesday. Bidding was good for all classes and nearly everything was sold'at the hammer as follows: —Calves 10s to 355. yearling steel's £1 15s to £2 4s, 18-months steers €2 itis to Xo ss. Gd, in-calf heifers £3 to £3 lis, store cows £2 5s to £3 las, springers £3 5s to £4) 15s, fait cows £4 13s to £5 2s, 'bulls £1 15s to £4, f.m. ewes Cs Bd, fat sheep (mixed) 15s 3d, lambs 7s. They also report the sale of the (55 acres of land by auction (on account of the Registrar of the Supreme Court) on the Mountain road to Mr. M. Dodunski at £l7 5s per acre. OUTSIDE MARKETS. ( ADDIXGTON. At the Addington live stock market there was again a large entry of stocic, though not so large as those of late. The attendance was good. Store sheep—Wethers made from 12s to 15s 3d, breeding ewes Ids to 13s lid, aged and low-conditioned sorts 4s 4d to 9s (id, merino ewes 4s to 8s Id, lamos Us Ud to lis Gd. Fat lambs—A few pens of show lambs from North Canterbury made 17s 7d to 18s Bd, tegs brought 15s Gd to 17s, ordin-al-v freezing weights 12s (id to 15s, light and unfinished 10s to 12s. Eat sheep—Prime wethers lGs to lffc lid, others 14? 0d to 15s 9d, prime ewes 13s'to 17s 4-d, others 0s fid to 12s Gd, merino ewes 7s to 8s 3d. Fat cattle —Steers made £7 to £lO, extra to £ll 15s. heifers £5 2s fid to £B, cows £4 17s Gd to £7 ss,equal to 18s to 22s per 1001b, according to ityVeal calves formed an average entry, and sold at 4s Gd to 545.
Store cattle—Yearlings made 20s to 38s, 15 to IS-months 35s to 495, 2 vear steers £3 - 2s Gd, three-year steers £5 15s, extra to £7 3s, 3-year heifers £3 os to £4, dry cows 30s to £3 10s, dairy cows £3 10s to £8 os, extra to £lO. Pios —Choppers sold up to 00s, heavy .baconers 42s (Id to 48s,' extra to 545, lighter 35s to 40s, equal to 3%d to 4d per lb; large porkers 31s to 345, lighter 28s to'3os, equal to 4u to 4Vod per lb; large stores 22s to 20s. medium 16s to 21s° small 12s to 15s, .weaners 5s to Bs. BLRNSIDE. At the Burnside stock market 212 head of fat cattle were yarded, tfie quality being above the average. The demand was fair, but prices were easier. Prices tor well-finished sheep showed a fair rise, but medium sorts realised the same prices as last week, while inferior ewes Avere very dull of sale, the quality of the yarding was very poor. Messrs Dalgety and Co. report:—At our Wanganui sale yesterday we had an excellent yarding of 1050 cattle and 2700 sheep. Buyers were .present from all parts of the Dominion, and all classes of stock were well competed for, cattle being in particularly good demand. We yarded some good lines of bullocks and cows from Lismore station, all of which nvere disposed of. the bullocks making up to £5 17s Gd and the cows up to £5 Bs. We sold 800 cattle and 2300 sheep. OTAKI. Messrs Dalgety. and Co., Ltd., report on their Otaki sale, held this week, as follows: —A good yarding of both sheep and cattle were submitted to a large attendance' of buyers. Cattle of all classes sold readily, uairy cows, near profit, being keenly competed for. With the exception of lambs, sheep also sold well. We quote. PAkIATUA. Messrs Abraham and Williams. Ltd., report on the Pahiatua sale as follows: —We submitted a heavy .yarding of sheep awl a fair yarding of cattle to a moderate attendance of farmers. The bulk of the sheep were disposed of at good values, as also were the cattle. Quotations: Forward wethers 12 !)d to I3s, 2-tooth ewes in lamb lis to I2s, sound-mouth ewes in lamb 8s 3d to lis.
