ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of the 'Taranaki Hockey Association was .U«UI in Messirs. Webster and Melvellav's office last .night. The delegates present we-re: —Messrs. W. Wood (New Plymouth), Clapham (C'ari'ingUm road), Anderson (Stratford), Kemp (Uawcra), Barnard (itlthani), driest (luglewood), J. K. Aveiy (acting secretary). An apology was received for the absence of Mr. 11.I 1 . P. Cook rill (president), and Dr. i'ookes (vice-president). Mr. 11. Stocker was voted to tlie chair. The annuai report was read as follows::

in submitting the annual report your committee have much pleasure in congratulating the Association on its financial .position. After paying oil' the deficiency there is a credit 'balance of £5 l;!s Si I, which must be considered very satisfactory. The Association sent a team to Auckland to try conclusions with that Association for the New Zealand Association Shield. The team was not by any means the best, .but under tire circumstances did very well. The championship was won by liawwa, they having 'beaten New Plymouth West mi (he plav-oll'. The Association owes visits to Hawke's Kay, Wanganni, Palmerston North. Wellington and Nelson, and the committee wishes to return these visits this season. It is to be hoped that the ; best men will oiler their services, as the Association has challenged Wellington, winners of tlui New Zealand Association Shield. Several of tlie clubs have increased their subscription for members joining their clubs, so as to 'help the Association in sending the best team away. It is to he hoped those clubs who have not. considered 'this matter will fall in with the others. The Association received advice from the New Zealand Council that arrangements had 'been made for an English team to visit New Zealand; in 1911. At a meeting of the committee it was decided to guarantee C 75 to have a match in this district. It is to he hoped that every I club will ilo its best towards subscribing that amount to the Council 'before September 1010. In conclusion,• ■gentlemen, 1 am very sorry to say that Mr. Strang, who acted as secretary during the 'past season, 'has left the district, and the Association will te.ve w elect another. Mr. Strang while in that .position did his utmost for 'the welfare of the Association, and the committee wish to thank him £or the time and trouble he has taken., and 1 wish him every succes# in hi'S new undertaking. The balance sheet showed receipts, £ll 17s (affiliation and registration), expenditure (including debit halan.ee of 13s 4d) £'.(> 3s !)d, 'leaving a balance in hand of to 13s 3d.

The report and balance sheet was adopted. 111 1 . Averv moved that the United Hockey Clwb 'l)i' affiliated' to the Association. This was seconded by Mr. Woods and carried. Mr. R, E. Maunder, the Club's delegate, then took his seat.

OFFICERS. Officers were elected as follows: — President, .Mr. F. I'. Corkill (re-elected); vice-presidents, the presidents of eacdi affiliated clu'b; secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. 15. Avery; hon. auditor, Mr. H. Stockcr (re-elected!)-: delegate to New Zealand Hockey ■Council, Mr. P. N. Riradle (re-elected); management committee, delegates, of affiliated clubs; se'leetor. (.the election of a selector was deferred).

The Marl! orougli Hockey Association wrote 'asking the Taranaki Association to ipay a visit, to Ma,ri<borough and play a match, which it was considered would stir up interest, in hockey. The matter, will 'be considered iater. Mr. Wood referred to the fact that eliibs this end were donating one shilling each member to the Association's fund for travelling expenses of a representative team. He suggested that one shilling should he collected weekly .from each member for that .purpose. Some members thought this would fall too heavy on menvbens. Mr. Priest thought the clubs might get up a social in aid of the .fund. Mr. Anderson saldi most of the clubs were putting their money in improving their grounds, which most important. After .further discussion a reiso) ration was passed that a recommendation .should be made to the various dulhs that a fund should 'be raised to pay 'travelling expenses of representatives.

FIXTURES. It was decided that entries for the competition should- close oil May ;J, *nd the competition, will start on May 19, 1910. It was decided) that in the event of Raponga not entering a team ingiewood, who are entering two teams, must enter one .in each division. That would then make four teams in each division. | A sub-committee, consisting of Messrs. I Clapham, Maunder andl the secretary | was appointed to arrange the fixtures. Three rounds will >be played if possible. IIEP. JERSEYS. Mr. Anderson suggested that t'lie Association buy the representative jerseys purchased by individual players isoime time ago. It was decided; that the secretaries of each club notify the representative players who purchased jerseys to forward them to the Association, when the money will he refunded if required. Tt was also decided 1 that in future the Association provide jerseys for representative players.. THANKS. Votes of thanks were accorded the president (Mr. F. P. Corkil'l), the Association delegate (Mr; P. N. -Rundle), the late 'secretary (Mr. Strang), the Press and the chairman. A practice game will 'be played on the racecourse to-day.
