PETROLEUM NEWS
THE CAUSE OF THE RISE. It is stated that three capitalistic concerns from Home and abroad are negotiating with the Tnranaki Petroleum Company for the acquisition of its rights, plant, and property. The directors will not make any agreement to sell, of course, without first submitting the proposal to the shareholders. A representative of Australian oil capital visited the Moturoa bores yesterday. He was not inclined to be communicative, and was doubtless on an official visit.
Sales of Taranaki Petroleum shares have been made at 10s to 10s 6d locally. Yesterday there were enquiries at lis, but no sellers. The demand is coming from outside, and mainly from Auckland.
