The committee of the Taranaki Jockey Club met subsequently, when the same gentlemen were present. The Whakatika Hockey Club was granted the use of the hockey ground on the racecourse. The North Taranaki Hunt Club was granted the use of the course for its meeting on Bth September. The chairman and Mr. Blundell were appointed a sub-committee to arrange for this year's race dates. It is probable that the dates for the meetings will be the same as last year, that is, at Christmas and February. Accounts amounting to a.-.! lis a were ipassed for payment.
Although he has not made a fortune out of sport, Mr. C. E. Major is one of the luckiest men in picking up horses to win for him that the writer has known (says a writer in the Hawera Star). Lately, he has bad the assistance of an experienced and conscientious trainer which has shown good results. Emblem well fills Kirsty's place which was made empty by an enlarged knee 12 months ago. '
