THE CORINNA. ' The Corinnu, arrived at one o'clock yesterday morning from Onehunga and left again shortly 'before noon with 5835 ■boxes of butter for transhipment to the lonic and 86 tons of general cargo. ■THE ROSAMOND. The Rosamond left Wellington at 1.30 p.m. yesterday for Picton, Nelson and New Plymouth. She will have about 200 tons of cargo, including 173 telegraph poles. OUR FASTEST WARSHIP. The swiftest warship in the world, j and the largest vessel ever built especially for the use of torpedo, is now com-1 plete, and (says the London Telegraph)' the command will be assumed by Commander J. S. Dumaresq. The Swift will join the first destroyer flotilla of 24 vessels based at Harwich. Originally she was to have replaced one of the; scout cruisers in the flotilla, but it has since been decided that she is to be attached to the flotilla as an additional ship. She will be the leader of a division of ten vessels. These ten ships, like the Swift, burn oil instead of coal, and can steam at moderate speed for from 1500 to 1700 miles without "reoiling." Remarkable .as this group is, the Swift is tue most notable vessel, not only in wie flotilla, but in any navy. She displaces 1825 tons, and with turbines developing 30,000-h.p.—twice as much as is developed by Dattleships of the Formidable type—she travels at the rate of thirty-six knots, equal to fortyone and a-half land miles. This is twice the speed of any "battleship- built prior to the Dreadnought, and in torpedo craft speed is one of the most important considerations. She ii also the most powerful torpedo vessel afloat.
