AMUSEMENTS.
HEWITT 'PICTURES. Last night;the patrons of the Hewitt Pictures were treated to an exceptionally good new programme, which was fully appreciated by the audience. The programme.' which is a lengthy one, is almost all "star" pictures, and it is hard to say which is the best. Those that drew forth the most applause were "The Friend ol' the Family," an infcens'elv- interesting drama, "The Island of OipnV a finely toned scenic picture,. '•Dowry Hunting," a. beautifully colored drama; "The Vintage Season," a fine industrial firm; and "A Fool for Luck." The comic pictures are the finest shown since the new management have taken control. We can especially recommend this programme to all lovers of cinematography.
