i SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Bj TWegraph. —Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Following is the Rev. D. C. Bates' weather report and summary:—A westerly area of low pressure of very unsteady type has prevailed in.the south for the week, and stormy and changeable weather has) been experienced in the fa,r south and at times further north. Westerly winds ifi&ve been especially boisterous in Cook and Fove&ux straits, where seas -have been heavy and rain has fallen. No information has flbeea received to-day from south of Kaikoura. Present indications are for southerly winds, strong to a gale, generally, with cold and showery weather; lain heavy on the West Coast. Seas are very heavy oil the West Coast and increasing southward of East Cape.
