FOOTBALL.
NEW ZEALAND TEAM FOR AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph —Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The mannuement' committee of the iNew Zealand Rugby Union has definitely decided to-night'to send a representative team to Australia during the com-•in-sr season. The team leaves on 3rd June, and will play a series of matches .in New South Wales and Queensland. THE ASSOCIATION GAME. The annual meeting of the Taranaki Association Football Union was held at Eltliam yesterday. The following delegates were present: —Messrs. S. Clark (Stratford), in the chair, C. W. Carncross .and Simpson (Elt'ham), Smith and Innes (Hawera), Melville and Foreman (Kapomoia). Elliott and Gwillim (New Plymouth),' Hareourt and Proffitt (Auroa). The balance-sheet was submitted, showing «• satisfactory credit balance. Correspondence was read from the New. Zealand, Association stating that, the proposed tour of the New South Wales footballers was postponed until the 1011 season, owing to insufficient support from some of the other associations.

It was decided to oppose all alterations to rules governing tlie Brown Shield tournament by tlie New Zealand Association, and Taranaki's delegate to the Association is to be instructed to that effect. The suggestion was to limit the challenges to three .associations. Tt was found to he impracticable this season to form .a referees' association. The Iron, secretrv was instructed to apply to the 'New Zealand Association for books of rule> and laws of the game, to be distributed amongst the several clubs. Tlie election of officers' resulted as follows: —President, Hon. W. C. P. Carncross, M.L-.r. (re-elected); vice-presi-dents. Dr. 13. A. Walker and Dr. Maolagan (re-elected), Dr. Carbcry, and Mr. Buxton (Aitroa): lion, secretary and treasurer. Mr. C. W. Carncross (reelected); auditor. Mr. Belts. It was decided that the Management Committee should consist of one delegate front each club, four to form a quorum, to meet when the secretary thinks necessary. The first meeting will be held on the 28th. April to draw up the fixtures. The opening-day was fixed for the l*2th of May. It is proposed that Taranalci shall •forward a, challenge to Wellington for the Brown Shield, to be played on the 9th July. It-was decided that'bona fide Association .footballers be allowed to take partin representative, fixtures, bona fide players being those -players who have been playing Soccer during the season. Each -club is to register its colors with the Tar-anaki Union, and no player is to be allowed to take part in a match unless wearing his club colors. With a view of popularising the game, the Union decided to instruct the secretary to write to the schoolmasters in Taranalci offering -a. challenge omp and a set of medals for competition .amongst the schools. Votes of thanks to the chairman, the secretary, and the Press concluded the meeting. Mr. S. Clark mentioned that Mr. F. Edwards, of Stratford, had presented two gold medals to lie given to the two most improved players during the coming season.
