WIRELESS AND RADIUM

A CLERGYMAN'S MYSTERIOUS EXPEDIENCES. The Rev. H. Mason, of Auckland, arrived at Dargaville last weeK at the invitation of the local Borough Council to ascertain if he c-ouid And water in sufficient quantities to provide the borough with an adequate water supply for domestic purposes. Mr. Mason proceeded to the highlands in one part of the town and at a ,point about one mile and a quarter from the post office he located what lie considered an underground reservoir which would provide, he estimated, at least two thousand gallons per day . He subsequently proceeded to Mangawhare, a sjburb of Dargaville, and there located on Mount Wesley another big stream which he maintains would supply at least two hundred thousands gallons per dsy, so that if the exploration work to follow is successful Dargaville will have more than an ample supply for the large population that is likely to exist there in the near future. During his investigations Mr. Mason was considerably affected, the twitching of his muscles and nerves being so severe that a feeling of deep exhaustion ensued for a short time after the location of the underground streams. During an interval in the proceedings, Mr. Mason related his experiences in experimenting with the mvsterious power he possesses in connection with radium. In this respect he stated that, beiri? able to borrow a small particle of radium from a doctor in the Wairarapa, he was able to prove that this substance exerted a .somewhat similar effect on him to that mentioned. When radium was buried in a garden in a position unknown tr him lie was able, by walking over ihe surface m the ground, to discover its whereabouts bv experiencing the s«7ne sensation of attraction exerted over him as in the' case of a water flow. Before leaving Mr. Mason said he considered that Nature had been very kind to Dargaville.
