FIRES.
BLAZE NEAR TAIHAPE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Taihape, Yesterday. A house of four rooms at Winiato, owned by a native and recently occupied by Dean, a butcher's assistant, wan burned at 2 o'clock this morning. The Unant only vacated the house last evening. The origin of the fire is a mystery. The police are inquiring into it. It irf believed there was no insurance on the building. FERE AT IXVERCARGILL. InvercargiU, Yesterday. A large corrugated iron building in Esk street, one of the landmarks of InvercargiU, was destroyed by fire early this morning. Part, of the premises was occupied bv .]. E. Watson and Co. as a machine store, and their large stock of agricultural implement# and oils was destroyed. The insurance ow the stock was £IOOO. J. D. Moir, another tenant, was insured for €2OO, and -T. Gillies, picture framer. was uninsured, and his loss is estimated at £1(10.
