"PARNELLISM AND CRIME."
MR. ASQUITJI'S VIEWS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyrignt. London, April 11. In reply to several questions from ■lrish members respecting The Times articles on "Parneinsin and Crime," the Premier admitted that they were written when Sir Robert Anderson was m the employment of the Crown. He could not use language sufficiently strong to condemn 'such a breach of official duty in supplying The Times v.-ith confidential documents; .but the affair was .now so remote that he must decline to reopen the whole thing. SIR R. ANDERSON EXPLAINS. Received April 13, 12.50 a.m. London, April 12. Sir Robert Anderson, in a letter to The Times, explains that but for a typist's accidental omission of the words the moiltli of May,' his confession of the authorship of "Parnellism and Crime' had been restricted, as intended, to The Times articles of May, 1887.
These were based on newspaper reports, his aim 'being to defeat the plot to dynamite Westminster Abbey on the occasion of the late Queen Victoria's jubilee.
