T> ,\rTyr! APPEAL BOARD.
Wellington, Friday
Sir Oeorge Clifford presided at a meeting of the Ilacing Conference Appeal Board yesterday, the Hon. O. Samuel, M.L.C., and Mr. W. E. Bidwell sitting with him. The appeal of Ben Deelev against a decision of the Auckland Metropolitan Committee, who had confirmed a twelve months' disqualification by the Takapuna Jockey C'lub, was considered. The finding was in favor of the jockey, the judges' ruling being that they "do not find any evidence that appellant did jostle Devonport (the first jostle alleged in the race), and in respect of the alleged jostle with Jena there is not sufficient evidence to satisfy the judges that the jostle (for which no action was taken br the stewards to question the result of the race) was, if it occurred, caused by any wilful or even negligent act of nnpellant. The appeal was allowed, the suspension af appellant's license quashed, and the deposits lodged by appellant with the Conference and with the Metropolitan Committee _ refunded.
In the matter of the appeal of the Dannevirke Jockey Club against a decision of the Hawke's Bay Metropolitan Committee, who refused to approve of a fine for not starting Full Crv after a voided start, the judges upheld the decision of the Metropolitan Committee and ruled that the said committee had full power to deal with the matter.
