The first casus lieanl under t'lie Apiaries Act were brought before Mr.] A. D. Thompson, S.M., at Otaki to-day. 1 W. H. Bray, Inspector of Apiaries, proceeded against Alfred Catly, of Manakau, and Hoani Tawliiri, of Otaki, under station 9, for keeping bees in other than frame hives, a.nd' under section 7, sub-1 section 2, for failing to transfer certain bees to frame hives in compliance withl written notice to do so. He! took it t'hat the proceedings had been taken to sliow defendants and othersj that the provisions of t'he Act are to be complied with. And that it was now necessary for everyone who kept bees to keep them in proper hives.
Mr. Bray as'ked leave to witlulraW| the second charge, provided a convic-i tion was obtained on the first. Defendant was fined 5s and costs fori keeping his bees in box hives, the Court consenting to the withdrawal of the other information. I Hoani Tawliiri pleaded guilty to tile first, charge, and was fined Is and costs. The second charge w»s withdrawn.
