The death took place at New Plymouth yesterday of a very old settler in the person of Mr Matthew Carrick, who had reached his seventy-seventh vear.
The Earl of Orford, Sir Reginald Beauphamn. and Colonel Pollen have looked passage for London by the JTorca, leaving Auckland on Wednesdav next. I*
Mr. David Hutchison, formerly of Hawnra, is lying in the hospital at HelensVille suffering from a serious trouble, and is not expected to recover (saw the IJawera Star). Xews comes from Auckland of tlio death of Mr. 'Henry Charles Hasplden. son of Mr. 0. J. A. ITaselden. ex-Undei'-Secretary for Justice, and nephew of Mr. W. E. ITaselden, S.M.
