In answer to his cable concerning the prospects of tin: resumption o£ the Sun Francisco services in the event o; congress passing the Subsidy Bill. Mr. ,i. H. Gunson, president of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, has received a message from Mr. J. D. Spreckcls, of the Oceanic Steam Ship Company, to tlie effect that the matter of route and ports of-call between the United states and Australasia would he a question of arrangement between the highest bidder and the postal authorities. Mr. >'preckels expresses doubt whether the Bill will .pas's into law.
