RIFLE SHOOTING.
TARATA RIFLE CLUB v. THE
GUARDS.
A most enjoyable match was fired yesterday afternoon at Tarata between, the Tarata Rifle Club and the Taranaki Guards. The weather was splendid. The. hospitality of the club was beyond wproaeh. In fact, eating and enjoyment seemed to be the great features of the trip, with shooting only as a sort of aide line. Tiie Guards drove out of Tarata amidst ringing cheers for both teams and for Host Paterson, whose catering was excellent. The Guards travelled one man .short, owing to a misunderstanding, and had to repeat the lowest score. The shooting was in favour of the Guards hy 13 points. Scores were as follow:
