Eyre Kenny, S.M. A London cable states that the Bishop of London and Canon Xewbolt have recommended the Rev. Harry D. Burton, of St. Albans, Eiigland, for appointment as vicar of St. Michael's Church, in succession to Bishop Averill. The Rev. Mr. Burton was ordained in 1881, and is a widower with six daughters. About thirty of the clients of the New Plymouth branch of the Bank of Australasia gathered at the hank yesterday afternoon to bid farewell to Mr. F. G. Kimbell, wh« has managed the branch for nearly two years past, and who has been promoted to the charge of the H»vrera branch. Amongst apologies received was one from the Rev. F. G. Evans. Mr. J. S. S. Medley was requested by the gathering to act as spokesman, and in a few brief remarks he expressed the regret of the local clientele that Mr. Kimbell was leaving, not only because of his courteous treatment of clients, but also on account of his genial disposition outside business affairs. They were- glad to learn, however, of Mr. Kimbi'll's promotion, and wished him every happiness and prosperity in his new appointment. He then handed Mr. Kimbell a handsome silver salver, suitably inscribed, a claret flagon, and a silver-mounted buggy whip. Mr. C. W. Covett added his tribute, and the company drank to the health of Mr. Kimbell, with a rousing three times three. His Worship the Mavor, Mr. G. Tisch. then, on behalf of friends, presented the guest with a well'-lined sovereign-case, mentioning particularly Mr. Kimbell's active interest in the NavyLeague, the local braneh of which he had been instrumental in forming. Mr. Kimbell bavins briefly returned thanks for the kindness which prompted the presentation, the company pledged the toast of Mr. Hirst, the new manager. ■who also replied, remarking on the very evident popularity of his predecessor.
