A CO-OPERATIVE EXPERIMENT

AN UNSUCCESSFUL ENDING. THE CURSE OF TRADE UNIONISM. By Cable—Press Aaso«iation.—Copyright London, April 3. The co-partners in Sir Christopher Furness' Hartlepool shipbuilding firm have, by 592 to 4!>2, voted against a continuance of the co - partnership scheme, although the men as co-partners received nine per cent, upon their money in addition to their wages. Sir Christopher Furness states tnat the firm's workmen would be favorable to the scheme if the trades unions left them alone. Mr. G. N. Rimes, when interviewed, said he appreciated Sir Christopher Furness' motives, but he had always been against co-opera because it breaks up the trades union . He was glad the Hartlepool experiment N was unlikely to be carried further.
