DAIRY PRODUCE REPORT. Messrs E. Griffiths and Co., New Plrmsuth, are in receipt of the following market report from their London principals, Messrs Mills and Sparrow, dated the 18th February, 1910: The weather has been very unsettled -with a high temperature for the period of the year. Danish: The quotation has been reduced 3 kroner. ' French: Supplies continue very light and prices of lower grades have advanced slightly. Australian: The s.s. Moroa was wel! up to time, and some of her butters ] •were on the market on Monday last. Unfortunately the quality this week is not up to'the high standard that it has been and quite a few brands are now showing signs of heat. Trade during this week has been good, but at lower 'prices than last, as it was found that tlie previous high rates were rather straining things rather too much, and it has been necessary to give away * few shillings in order to keep the butters moving.

New Zealand: Considering lower prices have had to be taken to get buyers vu take their regular brands ex Athenic, the trade went very slow at 120s asd over, and the fact that the Turakinn was not cleared up to time the. Athenic ■arrived, plainly proves that the price was rather too high. To-day's values are 116s to 118s, and at these quotations we expect the butters will clear. ' Argentine: This butter has also shared in the general reduction of values, hut is now .selling fairly well.

Cheese—Canadian: Quotations are still Is higher. The scarcity of fine quality is now very marked. New Zealand: Trade has been steady at last week's quotations. Prices are now on a fairly satisfactory level, and it is to be hoped that the trade will continue good, so as to clear tha arrivals a? they come to hand. J. B. MacEWAN & CO.'S REPORT. MARKET CONDITIONS.

Butter—The total of shipments from the opening of the dairy season, September Ist, is 14,875 tons, as compared with 12,374 for the same period last season, an increase of 20 per cent. Latest cables from the British markets artvise that prices were gradually declining from the recent advances, with the value of average best at 1225. With the approach of spring in the Northern Hemisphere a continued decline in prices must be expected.

Cheese.—The total of shipments from the opening of the dairy season, September Ist, is 17.458 tons, as compared with 13,572 for the same period last season. an increase of 28 per cent. Latest cables from the British markets advise that best New Zealand brands were selling at fiOs 6d to 02s. Conditions continue favorable with a steady demand, and prospects for the next month or two are bright. Stocks of Canadian are small and their early make will not be above normal. The weather is now more variable and less favorable, but feed is abundant in this district, and it is reasonable to anticipate a ]arzo. autumn make of both butter and cheese.
