After the ticket-hold*:-- were admitted by a sinsrle narrow door to the building, the door was i>ailed up to prevent unauthorised aoc?=;s The flames spread wit!. astounding rapidity, the dancers being in a blaze. Many were crushed and templed underJoot. The door remained closed. The f*H of the roof completed the tragedy. Four hundred men. women, and children were killed and manv weiv badlv burnt.
