. SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph.—Press Associatiom. 9 Wellington, Last Night. Following is the Rev D. C. Bates' weather summary and forecast: —Fair weather has been experienced in most ports of the South Island, but a cyclonic disturbance centred at present a little northward of Cape Maria has extended its influence over the north in gloomy and showery weather. Present indications are for a further fal 1 in the barometer; and especially in the north, where there is an easterly gale, heavy rain and floods in parts nv«y be expected. South-easterly winds, strong to gate, with rain, are probable elsewhere. The barometer will probacy rise quickly after 24 hours.
