CARD PLAYING.
I AVENUE ROAD 'CLUB. Tha annual meeting of the Aveuu# Road Card Club was held at the club'a rooms, Avenue road, on Monday night. Mr E. Sole, president, presided over a full attendance of members. The balance sheet showed' the club to be in a very sound condition, having finished up the season with over £0 in hand. The seas/on had been a most enjoyable one, and the club finished third in the championship, only being beaten on five occasions. Hearty votes of thanks were passed to Mr and Mrs Richards for the many kindnesetes shown to the club and to the president for his splendid financial assistance and untiring efforts towards making the club's gatherings so popular. Votes' of thanks were also passed to the iretiring secretary Richards) and the ladies' committee. The following officer* were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr E. Sole; vice-presidents, Messrs T. Avery, W. G. Penn, E. Elliot, W. Cliff, F. Richards. E. Dockrill, C. W. Govett, and Martin; captain, Mr W. Richards; dele-, gate to association, Mr A. Mason; secretary, A. Richards; selection committee —euchre, Mesisrs A. Marsh, T. Prentice and SI. J. Pattisoh; oribbage, A. Mason, !*■ Birch, and J. Blewmen. Seven new members were elected. Subscriptions were fixed at 3s 6d. The next meeting of the club was fired for next Wednes- ! day night. A vote of thanks! to the chairman terminated the meeting. ,
