Lowry, won the Autumn Stakes. The victory was .popular, a demonstration being made by the public. Kerlie showed the way to the straight, the nearest attendants being Beauvive, Maltine, and Trafalgar. Passing the stand Kerlie still led from Beauvive, and Mai tine, with Downfall last. There was little change along the back. Kerlie passed the six furlongs clear of Beauvive, followed by Blackrange, Olivaster, and Maltine. Before reaching the five furlongs Kerlie' gave .place to Blackrange, who had Olivaster as the nearest attendant. Olivaster moved to the front at the/ half-mile, Vavasor being .second, and Daisy Chain and Maltine lying handy. Olivaster was first into the straight from Daisy Chain, Jin'ee. and Vavasor. Once fairly on the way home Vavasor came through and won by two lengths, a similar distance sepaTating the second and third horses. ACCIDENTS TO JOCKEYS. Auckland, List Night. The jockey Porter, rider of Te Arai in the hurdle race on Saturday, is suffering (from a severe fracture of the skull. He is now semi-conscious, but his condition is serious. Price .the rider of First Wairiki, is suffering from concussion of the brain, anl is still unconscious. PATEA MEETING. The Patea Racing Club was' favoured with fine weather for its annual meeting held on Easter Monday. The attendance was large, and good fie ds, faced the starter. The course, which 'has been recently improved, was in good condition, but the turn into the straight is still a dangerous' spot, as was evidenced by Otehau falling in the Farmers' Plate Six bookmakers were licensed, and the totalisator was well supported, although receipts fell short of last year's' total, when the meeting was held on the more convenient Hawera racecourse. The racing was fair, every race being won very comfortably. Bismarck, tlie favourite, won the Patea- Handicap very easily from three opponents.
