Following is an extract from the report of the London produce coinmiss'ion«r, dated February 4:—Prospects for butter and cheese appear tc- be satisfactory. Continental butter is not in heavy supply, nor likely to show much increase for some time. Although the arrivals of colonial butter during January have been heavy the supply of foreign butter coming- to hand has been yery short. The outlook therefore ior New Zealand shipments for some time must be regarded as bright. There is every prospect that New Zealand cheese will be all required and taken up at satisfactory prices. The New Zealand Produce Commissioner in London cables as follows: The wool scales closed firm with good competition, especially for fine merinos by the Continent. Trade is good and is likely to continue so. American buyers were very cautious, and operated very moderately. Following are the estimated values of New Zealand greasy wools:—-Superior merinos 13d to 15d, medium merinos 10y 2 d to 12y 2 d, inferior 8d to lOd, fine cross'breds 13y 2 d to 15y 2 d, medium crossbreds lid to 13d, coarse crossbreds 9d to lid.
