In butter, the Kyogle Dairy Company won t'he £IOO Challenge Cup presented "by the Salt Union of England.

Court found the wreck of the tag Port Jackson on February 12 was due to a flaw in the machinery causing the breakdown, exonerated the j captain from all bzlame, and complimented him ilpon the good seamanship in getting the vessel to land. A MELBOURNE SUICIDE. ' Melbourne, Last Night. Reginald Tuckett, a member of the auctioneering tirm of Gemmell and Tuckett. committed suicide by shooting himself to-day. Received March 23, 10.30 p.m. Sydney, Last Night. Counsel for Strachan, who is bringing an action for libel against the Sydney Hera]<7. pleaded that the paper had done nothing more than putilish a controversy between Strachan and Count Inner. German "Resident at the New Hebrides, which Straehan provoked, if the statements" were libellous, it w*as purely a technical libel. MEDALS FOR COLONIAL SOLDIERS. Sydney. March 23. The Defence Department has been notified 'bliat the King [has lapproivied of a general medal for long service and good conduct in the permanent forces in the Empire beyond the seas.
