EDUCATION BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The meeting of the Education Board! was continued yesterday, all the members being present. INGLEWOOD TECHNICAL SCHOOL. Mr. Sanderson, the Board's architect, waited on the Board with reference to the lng!ewuod committee's request for modification of the plans of the Inglewod Technical School. He agreed with, some of the recommendations, and it ■was decided that Messrs. Morton and Trimble should confer with the committee to ascertain whether they would b» prepared to raise any further sum should the tenders on the modified plan still exceed the funds available; should they be so willing, fresh tenders will be called. PURANGI AND MATAU. Mr. Barnitt, chairman of the Purangi committee, wrote asking that the Purangi and Matau schools, at present half-time schools in charge of Mr. V. Long, be made full-time schools. The Chief Inspector thought the settlers were entitled to full-time schools. Mr. Morton favored acceding to the request, and said that the settlers inthe Purangi district were very determined in the matter, whilst Motou seemed content 'with the present arrangement. The committees and teacher will be 1 notified that the schools will be made-full-time schools as from Ist July next.
FINANCE COMMITTEE. The Finance Committee recommended,, inter alia, that the matter of repairs to the Waitara residence be left in the chairman's hands, with power to act;, that the following tenders be accepteds Frankley road school erection, F. Newell; Kaimiro additions, H. Peterson and Co.;. Newall road new school, Penwarden and Hart; Tarata residence, James Hart; York school, H. Peterson and Co.; Awatuna additions, Walker and Penny; school furniture, H. Brown and Co.; that the applications for additions to the Stratford District High School be referred to the Chief Inspector for hiß report; that; requirements at Urenui and Pukearuhe be left in the hands of the chairman, with power to act; that the Lincoln committee be informed that the the Board does not supply filters; that the West End committee be informed the Board will further urge the Department to make the necessary additions to the school; that the Pukeho committee be informed that the Board does not see Us way to apply for a grant for a residence at the present time; that I the Pukeho committee's request for j grass seed be approved; that the Waihi i committee's letter re alterations to the I school be referred to the inspector for | a report; and that a number of requests for minor repairs be referred to the chairman, with power to act. GENERAL.
