The Fitzroy river at Rockhampton is in hgh flood. Sixteen inches of rain 'i>t Ve a " en during the present montV The low-lying parts of the town are inundahed, and residents are removing to high ground. The wharves are covered with water, and much dama-,; has been done to goods. The floods have caused great destruction to the surrounding districts. Seveial mining dams have been sw°.pt away, and the train services are disorganised by washaways. The river Warrig at Augatalla is a mile wide, and is still rising. The township is largely under water. At MacKay over a hundred inches of rain has fallen since the beginning ot the year. 8 8
