It is not generally known that the Kaipara, now in dock at Auckland, is a fiister ship to tie Ayrshire, which suffered considerable damage by collision off Hplyhead, and is now in dock at Liverpool. A photograph of the latter vessel after the collision bears a remarkable likeness to the views that were exhibited of the Kaipara as she Jay in Rangitoto Channel, both vessels having settled down "by the head." The Kaikoura is another sister ship to the Ayrshire. About fifty men from the steamer Papanui, which struck a rock in Bass Strait, and is now lying in Hobson's Bay, have arrived at Lyttelton. The men are, it is understood, anxious to return to England, and many or them intend to go back as passengers, while the rest will take the first billet that offers on a Home-going ship.
