At the Haymarket on Saturday a large number of pigs was penned which sold at prices slightly in advance of previous rates. Weaners made as Od to 12s 6d. stoves 13s Cd to 17s, porkers 25s v._ to 28s 6d.
At Pohokura on Tuesday I held my supplementary sheep fair, but the weather was again wet, the surrounding flats being flooded, and in consequence a number of the sheep advertised did not come forward, although about 3000 of all classes were penned. Competition was good, everything being, sold at the hammer, with the exception of one line of aged evves, which was passed in. Shorn lambs (small) made 5s 4d to 5s 9d; 2-tooth ewes, 14s 2d to 15s Id; 2 and 4-tooth ewes, 13s lid to 15s 6d, f.m. ewes 7s 6d to 8s Bd, cull ewes 3s 4d, 2-tooth wethers, 12s 3d; 4-tooth Lincoln rams, 2 to 2*4 guineas, 2-tooth Romneys 3 to 3y 4 guineas, 4-tooth do. 1% to 2 guineas, 6-tooth do. 14 to % guineas.
At Rahota on the same day there was a fair yarding and a good attendance. All young cattle were wed competed for, and although prices for weaners were not quite as high as of late full market prices :were realised. Weaners made 24s to 345, small do. 15s, 15 to 18-months steers £2 2s to £2 10s, 15-months heifers, £2 10s, store cows £2 Ifis to £3 3s, torward do. £3 5s to £3 15s, fat do. £4 13s to £4 15s, heifers in calf £3 6s, bulls 25s to £2 Is, 4 to 6-tooth ewes 12s 6d. Before this sale 1 held a clearing saJe of furniture on account of Mr. F. A. Cramer, when good prices were realised.
On Wednesday at New Plymouth 1 held my autumn horse fair, about 176 horses being catalogued. There was a large attendance, including several outside buyers. Hacks and light harness classes were in the majority, but good sorts were not numerous. Anything showing quality was well competed for, but the ordinary or weedy horses were practically unsaleable. * In the .light draught classes a few really nice animals were penned, and Auckland buyers secured most 01 those sold. Vendors' and buyers' ideas of the value in some cases were not in harmony, and a few good animals went home. Unbroken draught filly, 2-year-old. made £23 10s; unbroken half-draughts, 3years, made £l3 to £l6; do. 4-year-oid, £ls to £2O; unbroken hacks and harness horses, £6 15s to £lO 10s; do. express horses, up to £ls ss; broken draughts and half-draughts, £lB to £25 10s; hacks and light harness, £4 10s to £lO 10s; weeds, £1 to £2 15s. A number.of second-hand buggies and gigs were sold and realised good prices. On Thursday at Wahvakaiho I Herd my supplementary sheep fair in conjunction with my ordinary cattle sale. There was a good yarding of both, sheep and cattle, young sheep being in good demand and selling readily, but old ewes were bard to quit. Several lines were passed in at the hummer but were mostly disposed of before leaving the yards. Weaners were dull of sale, but grown cattle sold at late ruling prices. Shorn lambs made 6s 3d to 7s 4d, woolly up to 8s Id, forward 8s 6d, culls 3s Id, 2-tooth ewes 16s 2d, 4, 0 and f f.fin. ewes lis to 12s 7d, f.m. ewes 8s 6d to lis !)d, culls 4s 7d to 6s, 2-tooth Lincoln rams %' to 1% guineas, 4-tooth do, % to 1 guinea; 2-tooth Romneys, % to 1 guinea, 2-tooth Leicester* "l% to 2V 3 guineas, Hampshire Downs up to % guineas.; weaners made 15s .to 25s fid, Jersey heifer weaners £2 10s, yearling steers, £1 15s, 18-mont.hs steers £2 19s to £3 Is, 18-months heifers, £2 13s Cd, 15-months steers, £2 6s, store cows, £2 17s 6d, forward do. up to £3 18s, fat do. £4 10s, springing cows £4 to £7 ss, springing heifers £4 to £5 2s fid, heifers in calf up to £4 2s, bulls £2 14s to £3.
' VICKERS & STEVENS' REPORT. At Tarata on Monday Viekers and Stevens report a fair yarding of stock. Owing to the very rough weather several lines of sheep did not come forward. There was a very good attendance. Prices as follows:—18-montbs empty heifers £2 12s, store cows £2 13s to £3 ss, springers £3 15s to £4 10s, cull lambs 4s to 5s 7d, 2-tooth wethers lis 7d. f.m. ewes 4s 6d to 7s 4d, cull ewes Bs.'
I At Inglewood on Wednesday.for the 1 firm's closing sale there was a very good ; «ntry of sheep and cattle, among iwhieh there were one or two very fine lines oi lambs. Bidding was slack for lambs and weaners, other .stock selling at market rates. Christchurch, March 10.
At Addington ya.rds yesterday there was a large entry of all classes of stock and a good attendance. Two-tooth ewes made 14s to His 6d; four-tooth. ,13s to 17s; and sound-mouthed, 10s 9d to 15s; forward wethers made 13s to lis; others, 8s lid to lis 6d: forward lambs, lis to 12s 2d; others, 7s 3d to 10s 6d. There was again a loige yarding of fat lambs, totalling 8140 head, and including some good lines of tegs, but there was also a proportion o? inferior and unfinished lambs. There was a keen demand for all well-finished lots, and tegs showed an advance of about 3d to 6d per head, and were firm at last week's rates. There was a iairly large yarding of fat sheep, the greater proportion being ew«s. There was a good demand for all descriptions, and prices were firmer all round. Range of prices was:—Prime wethers, 15s 3d Ij 18s 2d; lighter, 13s 3d to 15s; prime ewes. 12s fid to 16s lid; others, 10s 'l.l to 12s; merino ewes, 8s Id to Ss 7d. Entry of fat cattle totalled 2SO head, which were mostly sent in i>v dealers. Heifer beef was in rather better demand, but on the whole, there was little or no change in values. Steers realised £8 17s 6d to £ll ss; heiiers, £5 5s to £7 17s 6d; cows, £4 2s to £8 15s, equal to 19s Cd to 22s Cd for prime, 18s
to 19s for medium, and 15s 6d to 17s 6d for cow and inferior per 1001b. Veal calves made 3s Gd to 525, and up to 1 £3 16s for extra large. There was a' large entry of store cattle, wiiich mostly met with a slow sale; 18-months-old sorts made 20s to 335, and three-year-, old steers sold up to £5 15s; dairy cows . made £3 8s to £9 15s. {
There was a large entry of pigs, and they met with dull sale throughout. Baconers brought 44s to 525, equal to 3y 8 d to 3%d per lb; porkers, 32s to 435, equal to 4%d to 4y z d per lb; huge stores 25s to 325, smaller 14s to 18s; weaners, 6s to lis 6d. A line 01 50 good stores from Hanna Bros., Southbridge, changed hands at 31s.
BURNSIDE.
Dunedin, March 10,
1 Burnside stock market:—Fat cattle: 1.200 head yarded, consisting principally of medium to good bullocks and heifers, with a fair proportion of prime and txtra prime bullocks, and a few pens of medium cows and heifers. Best bullocks, £9 to £10; extra, up to £lO 12s 6d; medium, to £8 10s; lightei, £6 5s to £7 7s 6d; best cows and heiiers, w £6 10s; others, £4 10s to £5 ss. Fat sheep: 3709 penned, only a small proportion being prime quality. The bulk of the yarding consisted of medium and inferior ewes, which showed a decline of Is to Is 6d on last week's rales. Good wethers sold at about last week's rates, but medium wethers went back about Gd per head. Prime wethers made up to 16s 9d; a few extra to 19s 3d; good, to 15s; medium, 12s 6d to 13s 6d; extra prime ewes, to 16s; medium, 10s to 12s; inferior, 5s to 9s. Fat lambs: 2258 penned, a very large proportion of which were second-class or inierior. Bidding was good for all prime lambs, but prices were scarcely as good as last week. Second-class and inferior sorts dropped fully Is to Is Gd per head; best, to 14s 9d; medium, to 10s 6d; inferior, 7s to 9s. Pigs: About 160 were penned, these selling at last week's rates. Suckers. 5s to 9s; slips, 10s to 12s 6d; stores, 17s 6d to 20s; porkers, 27s 6d to 325; light baconers, 35s to 38s; heavy baconers, '4ss.
WAIKANAE. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their Waikanae sale, held on Thursday, as follows—A good entry of both sheep and cattle came forward, and were submitted to a lair attendance of buyers. Sheep were not so keenly competed for, but cattle sold well." With the exception of two pens of old ewes, we quitted the whole of our yarding at the following rates:—Medium store lambs, os Id; good woolly wether lambs, 9s; aged ewes, 5s to 5s 8d; better sons, to 9s; cull ewes, 2s; Romney rams, 15s, £1 Is to £2s Id; aged cows, low condition, £1 Is; weaner calves, to £1 lis; forward cows, £4 Is; fat heiters, £4 10s; fat cows, £4 15s.'
JOHNSONVILLE.
Messrs Abraham and Williams report on their Johnsonville sale, held on Wednesday, as follows:—We offered a keavy yarding of prime sheep and cattle, which' sold readily at late rates. Best 'bullocks, £8 7s Bd to £8 10s; Jighter, £8 to £8 ss, equal to 20s 6d per 1001b; vealers, 22s to 28s fid; prime heavy wethers, 15s Id; good quality wethers, 13s Id; merino wethers, lis; prime heavy ewes, 12s lid to 13s; good quality ewes, 12s 6d; plain ewes, 10s M; prime woolly lambs, 12s 2d; shorn lambs, Ds 2d to 10s 9d.
PAHIATUA. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Pahiatua sale, held on Tuesday, as follows:—Sheep were yarded close up to advertised numbersj and the yarding of cattle was also a heavy one. Sheep realised good values, and we have to report .practically a total clearance. Cattle were also in good demand, especially for steers and bullocks. Quotations:—Two and four-tooth ewes, small, 10s 8d to lis 6d; good 4-tooth to 4-year-old ewes, I2s to 12s Sd; good 4 and 5-year-old ewes, lis to lis 6d; medium do., 9s 7d to 10s !)d; sound-mouth ewes, 7s to 7s 3d,; medium lambs, 4s 6d to 5s 6d; small lambs. 3s 9d to 4s Id; 8 and 4-tooth wethers, in good condition, 12s 3d; small wethers, 9s to 9s §.d; Lincoln rams, 1% guineas; aged Eomney rams, 1 to 1% guineas; forward buf-

I Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Marton sale, held this ■week, as follows:—There was a good yarding of both sheep and cattle, and the demand for sheep was on a par with last sale. Good ewes sold well, and cattle sold at late rates.
