AMUSEMENTS.

HEWITT'S PICTURES. j Hewitt's change of programme last i night drew a good audience. The movj ing pictures are a very entertaining set j and include scenic, dramatic, comic and i educational. One of the best of the ! pictures is that entitled "In Old Kentucky," and depicts the outbreak of war between North v. South. Two brothers take opposite sides, and a fine dramatic picture ensues. A very pretty scenic film is "Picturesque Biarritz," the audience being treated to some very interesting views. A comic that *is very laughable is "He tried on Handcuffs," and shows a bridegroom who would try on the "darbies" on his wedding mom, with the result that nil the wedding arrangements are upset until the bracelets are removed. Mr Bert Russell's singing of "Love Me and the World is Mine"' was fairly good, but his voice was hardly audible at the back of the hall. Mr Michael Lewis, an amateur comedian from Auckland, made a .great success 01 Harry Lauder's specialties, his singing of "I'm fit' the noa," being screamingly funny. He had tc respond to two recalls. To-night the programme of pictures will be repeated. Mr Lewis will also give a popular turn, and Mr Russell will give'vocal numbers. An orchestra composed of Mr Percy Flvnn (piano), Mr H. S .Salt (violin) and Mr G. H. Saunders (cornet) will render a special musical programme.
