ANOTHER BOUNDARY BRIDGE

QUESTION OF CONTROL. At the Stratford County Council meeting on Wednesday, the question of the control of the Waipuku bridge, which divides the Taranaki county from the Stratford county, was again bro.ught up, when a letter was received from the Taranaki 'County Council to. the effect that they declined to handler th>; control of the Waipuku bridge to the Stratford .County Council, as they were taking steps to lrave the bridge vested under section 120 of the Public Works Act, 1908, and asking ii the Stratfor] County Council would sign the necessary agreement vesting the control in the Taranaki County Council. The reading of the letter did not evoke much discussion, memners unanimously agreeing not to acco.lc to the request of the Taranaki County Council, but deciding to at once take steps to have the bridge vested ir themselves as the controlling authority, and a resolution was passed to that effect.

Several of the members referred to the state of the bridge. The chairman said that in making the application they should say that they could give reasons for d-esiring the control.
