FOOTBALL.
THE WAIMATE CLUB. At the annual meeting of the Waimate Football Club on Saturday evening, a loss of, £l6 16s Od was shown, but there was still a credit balance of £44 Ids 6d. Failure by players to pay their brake fares resulted in a loss of £l2 13s to the club. The annual report stated that the club was to be congratulated on ,tihe success of its teams, the seniors winning the division and also Biggins' Cup, playing six matches and resulting in four wins', one draw and one toss; and also defeating Opunake, winners of the Western Division; and after playing a draw with the winners of the Northern Division (Stratford), beating that team on its own ground by 3 points to nil and winning the championship for 1909. The juniors were not so successful, and the .thirds had to plav off with Paten for the Southern Division supremacy, which the latter won by 3 points to nil. The club members who attained representative honors were Tamu, M. Ryan, 0. Young and Pini. Tamu was also included in the North Island team.
The following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr. F. McGwire; president, Mr. A. G. Bennett; vice-presidents, Messrs Dohald, McKenzie, Bashford, T. Taylor, J. Young, J. Meuli, Christie, Meidon, Father Bcrgin and Rev. Stent; hon. niembars, Messrs C. Cullen, J. Prince, Byrne, W. Taylor, A. Calder, 0. H. Taylor, E. Shove, F. J. Shaw, M. Hunter, W. Borrie, senr., Kissling, Mclvor, J. Ryan, A. Franklin and Armitage; delegates to Union, Messrs McKay and Christie; general committee, Messrs M. Ryan, J. Franklin and McKay; selection committee (seniors), Messrs E. Burlce, Christie, McKay and captain; first and second juniors, the senior selection committee to select first teams and after teams to elect their own selection committees; secretary and treasurer, Mr. C. Allison. It was decided to rescind the motion carried last year, "That the club pay 3brake hire for third players,"' and the sub. was fixed at ss, and that fares to the amount of 3s be paid by all players travelling in the brake, the captain to collect fares and hand to treasurer. The Star Football Club holds its annual meeting to-night. The annual meeting of the Taranaki Rugby Union will take place at Stratford on Friday.
