BAND CONTEST.
OPENING PROCEEDINGS. By Telegraph.—Press' Association. Wanganui, Last Night. The North Island Brass Band Association's thirteenth annual contest was! commenced this evening, when the E flat soprano cornet and B flat baritone soiob were played. The soprano was won by John Trusaell (tWanganui Garrison),' Wilkinson (Gisborne City) second, and R. Watson (Manaia) third. " There were ten competitors. The baritone competition was won by George Jensen (Wanganui Garrison), j. Cosgrove (Gisborne City) second, and Thomas Colo (Nelson Garrison) third. Seven competitors.
The weather is very wet. The B flat and E flat bass s'olos will be taken in the morning. A garden party will take place in the afternoon, and the B flat solos in the evening.
