PETROLEUM NEWS

BIG BLOW-OUT AT No. 3. A blow-out o't unusual proportions occurred at No. 3 bore yesterday morning, where drilling was being carried out in hard sandstone . formation. For some days past blows-out have been occurring frequently, but yesterday's was of considerably greater magnitude than any of the forerunners. Of the pure oil ejected, a dozen barrels was collected. The oil is of a different color to that hitherto met with in the bore. Drilling operations are being vigoroußly prosecuted at No. 2, which continues without intermission to flow oil from between the casings. At No. 1 the cleaning-out work is being proceeded with.
