Brechin, a very old resident of Wanganui, celebrated his 88th birthday on Saturday, when he received the congratulations of Sunday school children, whose picnic he attended. LORD KITCHENER'S TOUR. Napier, Last Night. Lord Kitchener, in continuation of -lis private tour of New Zealand, arrived here yesterday evening by motor car from Auckland, via Rotorua and Taupo. THE PEA RIFLE AGAIN*. Dunedin, .March 12. George Hatcher, a carpenter, whilst walking home from Abbotsford station last night, was struck down with a pea rifle bullet, that went clean through the calf of his right leg. He did not see who fired the shot. His condition is' not serious.
