WHARF WORKER KILLED. '• Christehurch, Last Night. liy Telegraph.—Press Association. A fatality occurred on board the Hnddart Parker Company's s.s'. Wimmera at 3.10 p.m. to-day, whereby Alexander Marrist, who was acting as hatchman at No. li hatch, was killed'. The steamer was taking on wheat, which i\vas being loaded in between decks. Mor,\vas,, standing at the side of the hatch with his foot resting on \ne •coamings. A sling of sacks of wheat swinging inboard touched him on the leg and he overbalanced. He was thrown heavily into tiie hold, and split liisihead on the coaming of the "'tween" decks. The unfortunate man was raised at once, but died as soon as lie readied the wliarf. Deceased was an old resident, and leaves a widow and three sons and four daughters'.
