AMUSEMENTS.
THE IRISH NATIONAL CONCERT. Right throughout the Irish world the 17th of March (St. Patrick's) Day) is honored by the people as the special Irish national day, and in nearly all the larger towns throughout New Zealand a concert or social is held in celebration of this event. Last year a very successful social was held in the Broughamstreet Hall, but the hall did not comfortably accommodate the large number that attended the function. This year it has oe6n decided to have a concert and social in the theatre. A really good programme, under the direction of Mr. Francis Cornwall, has been arranged, and will include Irish songs bv the best local talent, also Irish jigs and hornpipes by good dancers. The New Plymouth Orchestral Union hu* kindly consented to play a couple or overtures, and' some selections will probably be given by Mr. Cornwall's banjo and mandolin band. The programme is published in to-day's issue. The evening will conclude with if dance, for' which Mrs. Woods' orchestra has been engaged to provide the music, and the New Plymouth people, whether Trish or otherwise, are invited to come along and "<pend a really jolly night's amusement. Admission to concert; Dress circle 2s, children half-price; concert and dance, gents 3s, ladies 2s. Reserved seats for concert (Gd extra) at Collier and Co.'r shop, Devon-street.
