DISTRICT NEWS

RAHOTU. (From Our Own "Correspondent.) The Rahotu Public School picnic was held on Wednesday last in the grounds adjoining Mr. T, P. Hughson's orchard in Rahotu. The parents had subscribed liberally towards the funds, and everything passed off satisfactorily. The weather was all that could be desired, and the games were kept well up to time. "The committee are to be congratulated on having such willing helpers as their chairman (Mr. D. Anglesey) and Mr. A. D. Fielder, who kept the pot boiling. The committee were also fortunate in securing such suitable grounds for their purpose, and I am informed they have expressed themselves in that direction through their secretary. Mr. O. A. Cramer, who has been in the district for upwards of twelve years as ' iker in the employ of Messrs. T. P. Hughson and Son, is leaving here, having decided to purchase a business in Inglewood lately owned by Mr. Smith. His leaving is regretted, as he was always interested in anything relating to the welfare and improvement of the district. With Mr. Cramer goes Mr. John Boniface, who has been his fellow worker and assistant for some time past, and who goes with him to his new business.
