THE SLAUGHTERMEN'S STRIKE

The actual strikers are 14 gut hoys, and a dozen butchers, and they have thrown out 70 men belonging to other unions. Both sides are firm arid the prosr»vt< of a settlement within the next few days does not appear very hopeful. WOBK PROCEEDING. Auckland, Tuesday. The Farmers' Freezing Company en-<m"-ed eight men to take the nlace of men on strike, but only two put in an appearance this morning. This, however, enabled work to proceed to a limited extent.
