When the new men engaged t»y the Farmers' Freezing Co. to replace thestrikers' appeared' at the works tnis morning the strikers inadc an oiler to resume under conditions of the award, provided the company would at once consider their claims for increased ■wages. Th« company declined to give nny promise, expressed or implied, but offered to take them back on the old terms. This they rejected, and the bntclierß refused to* go to work with the new men. The company therefore closed the works. One hundred men arc thrown idle. It is stated ttot the union secretary refused to admit the new men to membership, although they are qualified under the rules of the union and the terms of the award.
