A good race for the Cup had been expected, but when the board was horsted only a dozen runners were left m. Orline led from start to finish, and won in only a quarter of a second outside the record of 1905 Results: — Autumn Hurdles', a handicap sweepstake of 3 sovs. each, with 300 sovs. added; 3 miles. —Vernier 1, The Gaul 2, Desmond 3. Four others started. Won by a length. Time, smin. 50'4sec. Ascot Yale Stakes.—Beverage 1, Lager 2, Gigandra 3. Also started: Bobadea. Teanami, Teringa. Rounding the turn, Pendil gained rapidly, and made a gallant but hopeless effort on entering the straight. Orline won by three lengths, five lengths separating second and third. Oarl Dour was fourth.

Sedition. Lamsdorff and Osiris ran a mile, the first two finishing together in lmin. 46sec. Osiris shaped badly. Polymorphous, assisted by Boanerges over the last four, covered six furlongs in lmin. 18sec., Boanerges going best at the finish. Armlet rattled over six furlongs in lmin. 17sec. General Soult and Nicotine finished abreast seven furlongs' in lmin. 34sec. Gipsy Belle did five furlongs in lmin 4sc«. Tuniut and Overtime went better than Tribulation over a smart six furlongs. Lndy Medallist went round at half pice. Lady Luck and Milan were together at the end of 10 furlongs in 2min. 16 sec. '■ Moturoa" wrote from Wanganui yesterday:— The Wnaganui tracks bore a busy appearance on Monday morning, trainers taking advantage of the good going to give their charges fas't work. As usual. Broadsword was stripped first, and ran a mile in a tick over lmin. 45sec., finishing up tired. The gallop of the morning was recorded by Diabolo and Lady Medallist. The Taranaki Cup winner made the race merry for five furlongs. Then Jenkins brought Diabolo up, and the pair raced level to the end of a mile run in lmin. 4Gsec. Diabolo showed clear in the next quarter, and, once in the straight, came away wiW a great run and led Lady Medallist by nearly three lengths at the finish. The mile and a ■half occupied 2min. 43 2-ssec. Polymorphous, Tribulation and Sedition broke away from the six furlong post and ran together to the finishing post. Sedition went on for another round and warmed up over the last three furlongs, finishing very fast. The Auckland horse gained many friends by his resolute galloping. Armlet dashed over five furlongs in 1.4, pulling hard; and Boanerges, looking very fit, did a circuit at a steady pace. Swimming Belt did two rounds, but was not out to put up records. Tumut, General Soult, Nicotine and Dearest did half to three-quarter pace

work, and St. Bill went well over six furlongs in lmin. 18 3-ssec. Kauroa showed to greater advantage tlmn Maruioa over a couple of rounns of the hurdles, but both horses fenced in good style. Armagh an'u First Barrel finished abreast at the end of a mile run in lmin. 50 3-ssec. The former appeared to have most in hand at the finish. Roosevelt, who is stated to be very backward, just pottered about. Overtime, Lamsdorft'. Gipsy Belle. Ristori. and a large number of horses did servTceable tas'ks. All the acceptors have made the final payment for the Cup, but several of the horses engaged have not put in an appearance yet. Diabolo, Sedition and Osiris are nominal favorites, but Uhlando is gaining in favor and Lady Lucy lias many frienus.
