[ HORRIBLE STABBTNG AFFAIR. | New York, February 28. i Five men hired a taxi-cab at Broadway, -New York, drove to the IWestside Saloon, and called on a man within. One of the occupants stabbed him in the breast. The others, with revolvers directed at the chauffeur's head, forced the chauffeur to drive them full speed. The man died without identifying the murderers, whom the police nave been unable to trace. WHOLESALE BRIBERY ALLEGED. New York, February 28. A sensational trial is proceeding against AUds, a leading Republican i-i New York State and a Senator, who is accused of receiving a bribe in 1901 from Senator Conger, of the American Bridge Company, who affirms that Bills regulating trams, telephones and railways' are frequently introduced for blackmailing purposes. Conger's companies are maintained by special corruption funds. The accusation against Allds is due to a bridge Bill being finally enacted. Frank Conger, the Senator's brother, paid £I2OO _to ATMs and other legislators.
