At the conclusion of the toununncui at Eltham on. Thursday, the president o: the Elt'uam Club, Mr. H. G. Carman, presented thar shield to the skip of tho .winning team, congratulating him upon his victory and expressing the opinion that the fiest team had won. In if.sponse, Mr. A. K. Smart expressed lus "ratification at \~e\v Plymouth regaining possession; of th e shield. He also expressed his kigh appreciation of the manner in whack the tournament h.id • been conducted; the arrangements having 'been exceedingly satisfactory hi every respect. Mr. Morey, one of tav winning team, aieo spoke. He congratulated Kit nam upon the players it was making, commented upon the asphalt streets, ami spolce highly of the enterprise of the .Yl'vor and Councillors. He said he was an old bowler, and the only one of the original members of the New Plymouth Club who was now 'eft in it. In a sense he was vvyr'g to hold the position of the late Mr. ■Paul, one of the whitest men who ewr 'trod a Dowiing green. Speaking a a ■ ■bowler with a quarter of a. century's experience Be eould say that he hid never played upon a better greea.
