The annual meeting of the Newspaper Proprietors' Association of Xew Zealand comemnced on Thursday and concluded to-day. All parts of the Dominion were represented. Mr. Selig, tlie president, in his annual address, reviewed the business of the year, and ] the various phases of newspaper work. I A considerable volume of business was | transacted. Auckland, February 25. A girl, 13 years of age. was attacked by a man at Warkworth and assaulted so seriously that she had to be removed to the Auckland Hospital. The girl's cries drew the attention of a young man named Oakes, who rushed to her assistant. Her assailant, it is alleged, threatened Oakes- with a knife. When Oakes rushed at him he bolted and got clear away. This' is the third known i ! outrage committed in the Rodney disI triet in a shovt period, and parents of j children are, becoming anxious. Later j the police arrested a man named Win. J. F. Moore and charged him with the < offence. Moore appears before the Court at Auckland to-morrow. KTXfi COtXTRY PROGRESS. j Raetihi. February 25. There was a good display at the Waimaroio Agricultural and Pastoral Society's initial show at Raetihi yesterday, and it was an eye-opener to strangers to see what the district, could turn out in the way of stock, vegetables, butter, etc. The horticultural and industrial part was also excellent.- Mr. Lancaster, of Palmerston. judged the stock. The show was opened by Mr. Jennings, M.P.. with a congratulatory speech, and Mr. Nation. Mavor of Taihape, fclso | spoke. There were about two tuons'and j persons present. I
