DAIRY PRODUCE REPORT. Messrs. E. Griffiths and Co. are in' receipt of the following market report from their London principals, Messrs." j Mills and Sparrow, dated 14th January, > 1910: I BUTTER. Since our last report the weather has been very changeable, and to-day is ex-! tremely mild. j Danish: The quotation lias been re-' duced by 2 kroner, but we think this , is' rather an unwise move on the part of the Danes, and we should not be surprised to see them raise it again vwy shortly. i French: Owing to the scarcity, prices 1 have gone up both on fresh and salt butters. | Australian: This week witnessed the arrival of the largest shipment of the season, the s.s. Otranto bringing a I of about 57,000 boxes. There has been I a very good demand indeed, and second- . ary butters are still making within Is j or 2s of the best. The quality con- ; tinues to give satisfaction, and at the j close of the market all butters' are well cleared, so that we should not be surprised to see best brands making an extra Is or so next week.
New Zealand: Only a few odd lots are left ex s.s. Rimutaka, and these tonsil* mostly of butters that are not quite best. The s.s. lonic is expected to dock to-morrow, and we feel quite confident that she will meet a good market. Argentine: Sellers having reduced quotations somewhat, there has been a much better demand. CHEESE. Canadian: Trade continues good, and an extra shilling is made'for very fancy lots. New Zealand: There has been a good demand, and the s.s.
