| DANNEVIRKE LAND BALLOT. | By Telegraph.—Press Association. ! Dannevirke, Thursday. There was a large a tendance at the j ballot for the Rumeti and Mangatera i sections yesterday afternoon. The proceedings , were conducted by the Com- | misioner of Crown Lands, Mr. Brodjerick... With him were Messrs. George I Wright and W. E. Ackroyd, members |of the Land Board. The Commissioner, ■in his opening remarks, said that they ■ had been fairly strict in rejecting applications from those who had small | areas of land, but, considering the very J large number of applicants from land* i less, tliey thought they were justified | in giving the landless applicants first ; chance. E. Romley, Utiwa, Feilding, 0.R.P.; s'ection 2, block 15, 100 acres (01 applicants), Harry Smith, Tipapakuku, 0.R.P.; section 12, 148 acres 1 rood 30 perches (39 applicants), Walter Puddle, Blenheim, 0.R.P.; section 14, 132 acres 3 roods 21 perches (75 applicants), Edward G.
